Scanning on an HP Color LaserJet CM2320 nfp Mac OSX 10.6

Hello All

I have an an HP Color LaserJet CM2320 nfp which is on my network and which I can scan from via my desktop computer using my HP Scan.app. It scans fine and works. My question and problem is however, this printer is on the other side of the building. If I want to scan multiple items I have to walk back and forth, losing hours of time when I need to scan in multiple documents. I know it is possible to scan in while standing at the printer via the scan button if I was using a PC but I am on a Mac. The printer gives a dialog saying I need to configure it via my PC. Does anyone know how I can configure this to work via a Mac? Thank you.

Re: Scanning on an HP Color LaserJet CM2320 nfp Mac OSX 10.6

Here is some additional support information for Snow Leopard (Mac OS 10.6) which includes some scan notes. It looks like scanning from the printer rather than the computer software for that model may not be supported in Snow Leopard.

Re: Scanning on an HP Color LaserJet CM2320 nfp Mac OSX 10.6

I also have problems with Snow Leopard and CM2320nf.

These two:

1 Scanning from Preview or Image Capture doesn't seem to work. It doesn't recognize the scanner.

2 The documents scanned with HP Director are huge! (pdf). Even if the resolution is set to the lowest. A one page PDF results easily in 6MB and that's just a text document with only the logo in colour.

What's going on? I bought this all in one because it's recommended by Apple on their site!

I just contacted HP (by active chat)  and they only give support to Windows..... ;-(

He gave me the link to the Apple website. Incredible... My old Canon inkjet scans en prints without any problems....

You probably won't be able to scan except via the HPScan app that activates via the HPDirector app.

6.36mb is the default size for letter size

However, there are a couple ways you can change the file size of the scans. The "little square/triangle slider" to the left of the preview are allows you to adjust the area one way (but it is best to set that at A4 and leave it alone) and it is more effective to move your cursor over the image area preview and draw a "marque" with the " +  " tool that appears.

The dimensions will change from 8.5x11 to what ever size square you drew.

When the pop-up dialog box pops up choose "save to file" and at the bottom choose "jpeg"

Otherwise you can crop your pdf in Preview.app by drawing a selection with it's marque tool and using Command+K or going under the "tools menu:crop"

Re: Scanning on an HP Color LaserJet CM2320 nfp Mac OSX 10.6

Hello Whatworries,

"Glad" somebody else also has these problems.

If it's really so that one page pdf's result in 6.3MB size, this scanner is of no use.

After Googleing for hours I have only find one person with this same problem. How is this possible?

My old Canon all in one MX700 does this job perfectly so it has created te situation that my old all in one is still on the same spot in our office.

Re: Scanning on an HP Color LaserJet CM2320 nfp Mac OSX 10.6

I'm using Lion 10.7 and I have trouble scanning as well. The printer is still being sold a lot so I suppose that the drivers would be very well developed..

So far I'm rather disapointed..

Hi Gamick,

The HP Color LaserJet CM2320 is a commercial printer. I suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support for a better chance at finding a solution.

Here is the link to the Commercial Laserjet board:
