Scanning problem with HP Deskjet 3050A - only scans about a quarter of a page

I use Mac OSX 10.5.8. My new HP Deskjet 3050A only scans about a quarter of the page - which is then blown up to take up the entire page.

I posted a problem as a reply on 06-16-2012 but no response.

Seeking help please.

Hi,
The default scan workflow configured to scan 6 x 4 inch picture. Make sure to change the scan settings not to crop the scanned area as following:

1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.
4. Select the Scan Shortcut used to scan, then click Edit.
5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle to enlarge the menu.
6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Crop To and set as None.
7. Click OK and try scanning again.

Unfortunately ("Scan" Button Shortcut) is greyed out, so I am unable to get past step 3.

Please perform those steps on Mac computer.

1. On the top menu bar of the Mac computer, click Go (If you cannot see “Go”, Click on an empty area in the desktop screen, then look at the menu in the bar at the top of the page)

2. Click "Utilities" >> click HP Utility >> Click Scan Settings >> Click "Scan to Computer".
3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.

4. Here you need to select the option you use while scanning from printer front panel e.g "Photo to file" or "Document to file" >> then click "Edit" button
5. Following option will appear:

Scan from HP Device

Change scan File Type

Move Finder Items

Reveal Finder Items

6. Select "Scan from HP Device" and now following option will appear:

Presets (drop down box)

Select Presets to "Standard" and click on OK then try to scan from printer.
