I use a Mac program called PDFPenPro to edit pdf documents. When I scan in a document with my OfficeJet 7310, the resulting image is way too big, so big that I cannot do anything with it even with lots of tech support from the SmileOnMyMac company that created PDFPenPro. It does not matter whether I scan it in to Adobe or to Preview; the result is the same. So I cannot be an issue with that software. After much discussion, I was told that it has to be an hp issue, and sure enough, when I called hp tech support, I was told it is a known issue and hp was working on it. Months went by and having seen no update to the software, I called again to see if any progress had been made. This tech had no knowledge of such an issue and categorically denied that it was an hp problem. So no, they were not working on it!
Does anyone know for sure what hp's stand is on this? Or, more to the point, is there a way to solve this problem?

I'm having what seems to be the same problem. Using HP Scan software I'm scanning using an Envy printer. Has worked fine until recently and now, though the scanned documents appear correctly in the HP display, when saving as a PDF file then opening with Adobe the displayed image is too large and part of the document is cut off. I'm not sure if the problem is in the Adobe settings (the image size comes up at 147% and I don't know if I'm missing a setting or something) or the HP software. HELP, I have a project for the boss and am stuck!!

I understand that when you scan the PDF file is enlarged. I will try my best to help you resolve this issue. I suggest that you make sure that everything is updated including Adobe Reader.
Also you can save the file normally after scanning, open the PDF file in Preview, go to file and save as. Change the quartz filter drop down to "reduce file size" and save the file. This can lower the file size by up to about 80% and all macs have Preview preloaded.
I hope this helps, let me know.
