I'm trying to scan photos with a Photosmart C7180 in Mac OSX 10.5.
When I have multiple images on the scan bed, it scans the entire bed as one big image, instead of auto-cropping and saving each photo as an individual file.
I make sure there is a gap betwene the photos on the scan bed (they are not touching).
I read this FAQ on the subject, but believe it is for windows users only. I can't find the "solution center" anywhere.

There is a setting in the HP software for "Detect Separate Items". That needs to be checked.
Perhaps in the scan software settings (look for an icon of a gear)? Sorry I don't have that software to play with or I would point you to the right spot.

I can't find the setting for "detect seperate items".
Under the gear icon, I can go to scan prefrences, but there are only a few options (resolution, image type, and destination). Nothing about "detect seperate items".
Please let me know where to find the setting for "detect seperate items"???

Sorry, the guy I pinged in HP never responded to me. Let's try scanning with Image Capture (its in your Applications folder).
Click on your scanner on the left side, then Show Details along the bottom.
Choose jpg as the image type, then check the box that says "Detect Separate Items".

I opened image capture, but thre is nothing that says "show details" and no box to check "detect seperate items". Are you sure you are giving the correct instructions for my operating system?
I'd really rather use the HP software if possible.

Sorry, I have not had 10.5 in a while. Did you select your scanner? Can you post a screen shot?
