Snow Leopard Drivers for laserjet p1006

Can you tell me when new drivers will be available?

I, too, am having trouble with the P1006 and Snow Leopard.  Printing is very important for me... didn't know it was going to be messed up by upgrading to Snow Leopard.  When will these drivers be available?  They should have either been included by Apple or HP should have made them available on Friday when it was released.  You all knew this day was coming.......

Hi all,

Unfortunately, updated 10.6 drivers for the HP LaserJet P1005 and P1006 printers are not yet available.    HP did a nice job supporting most HP models in 10.6 but a few printers are still a work in progress.  We'll post update news here asap.

Apologies for being a pain but, Rickster, that should read "a few current printers", going by what is offered on the www.hp.com "Shopping" site.  I was very surprised to be told by a HP "technician" on Friday that work on the drivers (for my P1600 and D4260) had only started on that day, as they had no previous knowledge of the operating system.  Surely this is not true.

I had a similar experience.  I spent 25 minutes on the phone with tech support for 10.6 with the P1006.  The HP Tech was unaware that OS X 10.6 was out, or any different than previous OS X versions.  The tech was adamant that the current driver should handle any version of OS X 10.  It was a very frustrating half hour.  HP was not aware of any compatibility issues with OS X 10.6 and any of their Laserjet printer.   This didn,t leave me with any faith that the P1006 will be getting a Snow Leopard driver.  I like my P1006, but since I cannot get confirmation that a driver is being worked on and an ETA, I have started shoping for another brand laser.  I will be ditching HP if I cannot get an answer by next week.

Snow leopard removed the printer from my preferences on this computer, which is connected to the P1006 via USB.

To get it back, I did the following:

1)  Downloaded the Mac OX X Drivers from the HP site.

2)  Installed these drivers.

3)  Let the driver installation software add the printer back. 

I have been able to print from this machine (Mac Pro), which is connected to the printer via USB.

On another computer (MacBook Pro). I reinstalled the HP Mac Drivers, removed the printer, then added it back. Printing to the P1006 now works from that computer, too.

I tried uninstalling the printer, re-downloading the drivers, and re-installing it. I get the same error every time: PrintJobMgr quit unexpectedly. Here is the detailed error report, please if anyone has any ideas, please help!
