Re: Snow Leopard Drivers for laserjet p1006

Did you try restarting? It didn't work for me until I reinstalled the old drivers *and* restarted.

No idea why it wouldn't work. Aside from the fact that it shouldn't work to begin with. Hopefully they'll actually fix the problem soon.

Re: Snow Leopard Drivers for laserjet p1006

This solution did not work for me.  When I threw away the current p1006 driver it refused to vanish and was automatically selected by the computer for the printer.  I unplugged the printer from the USB and restarted, then I plugged it back in and allowed the computer to find it.  It created a duplicate printer of the same kind HP P1006-1 on which everything prints without any problem.  Have no idea what is going on, but it works.

Re: Snow Leopard Drivers for laserjet p1006

Worked for Airport Express and P1006 connected to it by USB

  •  Driver works fine
  1. Download driver from this link
  2. http://download.driverscollection.com/d0c4fb1b27d40fd4ddd22d57830d38b7089746d69aeaac38e765efcc94f51d21065ed42a21e585f8444478ba82bec26c4aa05ddc/H/Hewlett-Packard/Printers/LJP1000_P1500_OSX_ful_sol-v1.0.4.dmg
  3. goto system preferences
  4. the printer & fax
  5. right click above the +- on the right side where you add printers and reset printer system...  ( This will clear all other drivers )
  6. with the printer on, install the DMG printer driver you installed
  7. the go back to printer& fax in system preferences and add the p1006 printer
  8. it will select the P1006 printer with auto select, then hi ok
  9. restart the Mac
  10. ok open a doc or web site and print
  11. Call HP and Apple how unhappy you are with their printer support.

Re: Snow Leopard Drivers for laserjet p1006

I contacted HP tech support (email) about the P1006 and his reply indicated that he did not even know that a driver was not available for Snow Leopard. He gave me printing instructions using the old software... which of course doesn't work. And he gave me a list of all the supported printers, non of which was the P1006. Very disappointing. So how long do we have to wait for the updated printer driver?

Re: Snow Leopard Drivers for laserjet p1006

I followed steps to reinstall driver and still cannot work. HP tech told me that the driver for Snow may available on mid-November. Shame on APPLEE and HP.

Re: Snow Leopard Drivers for laserjet p1006

This worked for me too.  I uninstalled the current driver and installed the one in this thread.  I have Snow Leopard and a MBPro.  Here's the link again:

The temporary solution (works good) is to download old drivers for HP P1000-1500 series (v.1.04) at following link:

Re: Snow Leopard Drivers for laserjet p1006

YES! Finally works with the "workaround" solution, which by the way, HP, is ridiculous.

Just remember to restart the mac before trying to print anything. And get rid of the old drivers (so go to system prefs-->printers --> and REMOVE the old P1006.

Also, be aware that even though these drivers say P1005, they still work.

My story:

First,

I tried downloading the Apple drivers - and it didn't work.

I tried installing "optional install" materials from Snow leopard DVD -- didn't work.

Then I tried HP drivers: didn't work.

Then I got really nervous because "computer issues" are not decent excuses in law school. Then I googled this stuff like crazy, found the workaround and it worked!

THANK YOU!!!

-Rob
