This is the file I downloaded:
hpColorLaserJet2600nv1.3.dmg (5.3 MB)
Search your download directory for that and run/double click on it. That should get you off to a good start. Let me know how it goes from there.

Printer: HP 2600n
Wireless Router: Apple Time Capsule
Network Printer: via Apple Express
Step 1: Download and install the printer driver 2600n from HP http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/S
Step 2: Macintosh HD go to Airport Utility – locate the Apple Time Capsule or Express that your printer is connected to and write down the IP Address: xxx.xxx.x.x
Step 3. Close the Airport Utility
Step 4. Under the apple icon go to System Preferences and select Printer & Fax
Step 5. Click the + like you are going to add a printer. A second window will open up. Select your printer the Hewlett-Packard HP Color Laserjet 2600n printer.
Step 6. Very important select more printers and then manual. Remember the IP Address I told you to write down, now type that in the Manual IP boxes. Where it says printer right under kind you will see “Not Found” you will need to select in the drop down HP Color LaserJet 2600n. Click add it will take a little while until it identifies your printer.
Step 7. Just go back to Preferences and select Printer & Fax and you will see the HP Color Laserjet 2600n printer in the idle status. That is it. I’m glad I was able to remember the steps and document it, because it me a long time to finally figure this out. I tried what other people had recommended and it did not work for me. I was able to complete this on one Macbook Pro and three Macbooks. Good Luck!

I followed your instructions but come to a dead end after I enter the ip address. I click "connect", it won't find it, and all i can do is cancel. I don't ever see another pulldown menu and/or the ability to click "add". ?
thx,
Jeff

I went to the HP Driver download site and only saw drivers for 10.5. Which page did you find the solution.
I'm running 10.6.1 and connect through an ethernet cable. My computer recognizes the printer, and seemingly sends the job to somewhere, and all the router lights blink very rapidly. The printer light does not blink. Then the lights stop blinking and the job is finished, ...but nothing comes out of the printer

Sweet. That worked. If you happen to have already installed the printer using the HP Color LaserJet 2605 like I did, make sure you remove it first from your settings. (Click the - sign in the Print & Fax window.) Then click the + sign and you should automatically have the software found once you select the printer in the bonjour list. (This is after you've followed the previous information on installing the 10.5 version drivers.)
I installed all 1.2 GB of print drivers off the SL DVD only to NOT have the driver for the 2600n get installed. Ugh. Does anyone know a way to uninstall all that junk (printer drivers) off my Mac?
