Steps taken:
1. Print out a configuration page by pressing the Go and Job Cancel buttons simultaneously.
2. From configuration page 2, get printer IP address.
3. In Snow Leopard Add Printer utility,
3a. Select add new printer.
3b. Select Protocol "HP Jetdirect - Socket"
3c. Enter IP address (2 above) into Address field.
Once the IP address was entered, the Add Printer utility found the printer and auto selected the 2100 series driver. Was able to print out a test page once the 2100M showed up in the printer list.

When i press down both buttons on the HP 2100M I do not get any information about the IP address.
I still need a way to get the IP address of my 2100M.

One other thing.
(I have a hp 2100M/TN)
If by some chance the IP address is 192.0.0.192 here are a few steps to fix that:
-connect the HP JetDirect card to your Mac with an Enet cable (if you're using a MacPro make sure only the printer is connected via enet)
-launch terminal
-type "telnet 192.0.0.192" (there's another default also that I didn't write down)
when you get the ">" prompt from the printer
-type "?"
-look at list of parameters you can set
if you want DHCP,
"enable-DHCP: 1" (or something like that)
if you want static IP,
"ip: <ip address>"
"subnet: <subnet address>"
when you're finished,
type "quit"
(otherwise the parameters you changed don't get saved.)
PS,
Why doesn't this printer's Java-based config page work on Mac?
(Typing http://192.0.0.192/ in to Safari connects to the printer. But, a page saying it won't work the Mac is displayed. Using Safari's debug menu to change the agent to windows, loads a page but the Java sections don't work)

I have tried these steps several times--for some reason can't find the printer. deleted printer, added, twice. keeps spooling but doesn't find printer. Any ideas? I've turned printer off and tried again--still not working.
