Super slow printing

I use a Photosmart C4680 with my Mac mini (running Snow Leopard - version 10.6.6). Printer worked perfectly until today. When I tried to print a Web page this morning nothing happened. About 2 hours later the printer suddenly spit out the page I requested. I have made absolutely no changes to my system for months.

Does anyone have a clue as to what the problem could be? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

   How is the printer connected, USB cable, Ethernet, wireless?  Did you check the print cue while the job was waiting?  Has this happened more than once?

Printer connected via USB cable and there were no jobs in the print queue. This is the first time it has ever happened.

   There are a lot of potential variables.  If it happens again can you go into Activity Monitor to see if anything is suddenly taking up a lot of memory?  Also, if it happens again can you check the print cue to see if the job shows there.  And, can you check your System Profiler to see if the printer is showing on your USB?  Thanks.  Let us know what happens.
