I have a HP 470 WBT Mobile Printer that I am trying to install on a MacBook Pro running Lion OS X. Apple says I need to go to HP for driver and HP says I need to go to Apple. Is their a generic driver I can use? The printer is not listed as a supported printer under Lion but the HP Printer Utility SW still sends a "Test Page" to the printer and it successfully prints. Any ideas?

Hi,
The software driver available from Apple Software Update.
You may find the installatiob instructions listed within HP site below:
Additionally, as listed on Apple site as well, the driver for your printer do available from Apple Software Update.
You may find it listed as HP OfficeJet H470 below:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP
If retrieving the driver from Apple Software Update failes for any reason, you may manuall install the latest HP Priner Drivers (the same bundle used through Apple Software Update)
http://support.apple.com/downloads/DL907/en_US/HPP
Then you should be able to add the printer queue with no issues.
Regards,
Shlomi

I downloaded the driver from Apple via the second site you showed. It went through the whole install. Many extenstions could not be installed for one reason or another. The software finished and said it was successful. I then tried to add the printer and it asks me if I want to download the drivers for the printer. There is no choice of finding them on the computer. It looks for the software and returns the following message: The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printer’s manufacturer for the latest software. Any other ideas?

Let's try repairing the disk permissionsand then check for any change:
1. Open the the Applications folder.
2. Go to the Utilities folder.
3. Double-click on Disk Utility.
4. Select the hard drive containing the boot volume.
5. Go to the First Aid tab and select Repair Disk Permissions.
Note: This process may take several minutes depending on the Mac and amount of permissions that need to be repaired. The Progress Log will indicate when the proccess has been completed.
Once done, reboot your Mac and try installing the package printer drivers package again.
Please let me know of any change,
Shlomi
