Update - HP Scan application - Grayscale fix - OS X 10.9 Mavericks

[ Edited ]

Hello

For the following HP products, HP has posted new full software/installers for OS X 10.9 Mavericks that includes an updated HP Scan application.

If you updated to Mavericks and then observed incorrect file output from HP Scan application, specifically when scanning black and white or grayscale images at resolutions up to 600 dpi, this software update should resolve the issue.

Go to www.hp.com/support, enter your HP product name, select  your specific model, and download the Driver - Product Installation Software for OS X 10.9 Mavericks

VERY IMPORTANT - to ensure that you actually install the updated HP Scan app, during first few screens of the install process there will be a window titled  - Custom Install on "Mavericks" -  that offers you choices of the HP software you may choose to install.   You MUST check the box by HP Scan to install the updated HP Scan application.  Complete the install process and you should have the latest HP software for Mavericks including updated HP Scan application.

Re: Update - HP Scan application - Grayscale fix - OS X 10.9 Mavericks

Has HP developed a fix for those that cannot scan from the printer control panel or from HP Scan,  Image Capture following upgrading to OS Mavericks?  This seems to be a hot issue for us 'scanners'.  Thank you in advance.

Is there a fix for an HP Photosmart Pemium C309g printer having issues with scanning after a Mavericks upgrade??  Nice printer, but just a big paperweight if I can't scan.

Re: Update - HP Scan application - Grayscale fix - OS X 10.9 Mavericks

The HP software support tells you to get the driver updates for the Photosmart 7200 series from Apple Software Update (i.e., the Apple Store).   It's not there.  I'm now using Preview to run the scan function on my Photosmart 7280 since the HP Device Manager software tells me that the printer can't be found.  Let me know if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen a driver or scanner update for the Photosmart 7200 series from either Apple or HP.

Re: Update - HP Scan application - Grayscale fix - OS X 10.9 Mavericks

[ Edited ]

thx for list of Hp all-in-ones, but MINE is not there! Is there no support for a Photosmart C4780 driver ? I just got a new Mac Book Pro and transferred my data from my old mac. Did not know about any scan issues with Mavericks BEFORE I hooked up printer. My Hp utility "says" I have a C4780 printer and the numbers; product, serial all read correctly matching the printer. however the Hp device manager "says" I have an Hp 5500 series and there are no options to change it in a drop-down menu! The scan is non-existent.

The C4780 ( 4700 series) reads that the

Driver: HP Inkjet 1 and the driver  is 3.2.1

          product # Q 8380A

      Serial  {Private Information Removed}

Re: Update - HP Scan application - Grayscale fix - OS X 10.9 Mavericks

Pls advise: myHp all-in-one, C4780 scanned great til OS X 10.9 Mavericks. I see on your list there is no driver to fix the problem??? I can't believe I have to ditch a machine that "mostly" works because of no scanning capacity> I wonder if there is a fix for me to do?? Thx

Is this only for Windows machines?

Re: Update - HP Scan application - Grayscale fix - OS X 10.9 Mavericks

MacBook Pro, Mavericks OSX 10.9.2, HP Officejet Pro 8600. This update specifically lists my printer.

Have had Mavericks for many months and could scan successfully, but as of today was suddenly not able to scan to computer. Turned HP off and on, rebooted Mac, no change. I can print, but when I go to scan to computer (haven't been able to scan to email for months) the touch screen tells me to go to HP Utility/scan settings, enable scan to computer.  When I go to HP Utility and choose my printer, it automatically tries to connect and hangs. There is no "scan settings" option.

Installed this update, chose every option including the scanning. Same issue still happens with HP Utility. It hangs. Nothing has changed; still unable to scan to computer unless I go to Preferences and click on printers. I can open the scanner but it scans every page as a separate document.

Help! Any more advice?
