@greenjp
See the previous page -> post from macfrk
It has a link to the 2.6 driver that rolls back the 2.7 problems

I was just given this advice. Have not tried as I have already rolled back to 2.6:
I also had the same problem and had to experiment to solve it.
Deleting the printer in system prefs and adding a new didnt solve the problem.
I found that when the system found the printer by itself, the problem would persist.
When adding a new printer and using the "HP Jetdirect - Socket" to at specified IP printer adress, the problem would dissapear.
I then set up the printer for a locked IP adress (insted of DHCP) and adressed the printer via the "HP Jetdirect - Socket" protocol.

All problems vere gone. It seemes to be a problem with the network driver somehow.

I just encountered this problem today, leading to near disaster. The ink spilled from the paper to my hardwood floors and splashed onto my hardwood cabinets. If I hadn't been right there, the ink might have dried and damaged my floors and cabinet.
It seems that the only way I can get back the ability to do decent prints with the B9180 is to take my software backwards (thanks for posting MacFrk), but since I have another HP printer, the CP4005dn color laserjet, that will also take my software backwards for that printer as well. I can't find standalone drivers for either printer on HP's website, instead after digging through several successive links, the answer is that I have to use Apple's software update. That isn't a solution because I can't have the newest driver for the CP4005dn and older driver for the B9180, whichh is what I need to resolve this situation.
Does anyone from HP read these messages? Can you either fix the latest B9180 driver, or at least post separate drivers for different printers, both current and going back 1 iteration?

Many thanks Macfrk. Can print again by reverting to earlier driver.

The folder from MacFrk didn't work for me—it did return the driver to 3.2, but when I tried to print from Photoshop CS5, the printer simply didn't respond. Fortunately, I had an HP printer drivers update 2.5.2 from last November in my installers folder and when I applied that the printer did work properly and produce good prints. The underside of the prints had lines of smears from the glut of ink that driver v. 3.3.0 applied, and so I have spent the last hour or so cleaning the inside of the printer. There are still some smears on the wrong side of the prints, but they wipe off. Fussing with the printer today wasted quite a bit of time, and I hope that HP will provide a driver to replace 3.3.0 soon.

New software update out today from Apple has new HP drivers. When I checked, they are still v. 3.3.0 for the B9180. I was hoping for a fix for the ink spewing behavior, but apparently that will have to wait until another day.

This is what I did and I'm using 2.7. It worked like a charm. Thanks!

Thanks, I'll check this out when I'm back home in mid-October. Sounds worth pursuing to see if it will work for me.
