Where do I find a Mac OS X 10.4 printer driver for the HP Deskjet 3050 J610 series?

You can't from HP.  10.4 is just too old.  The printer was designed after 10.4 was no longer current or even actively supported by HP or Apple.

I'd recommend upgrading your operating system.

Great pity there is no 10.4 printer driver for the 3050 Deskjet. In the office with all the great printers, I have a brand new Mac with 10.6.8 soon changing to 10.7, but at home an old TiBookG4 and iMacG5 (both 10.4) and both are doing a very good job. It had appeared that the HP DeskJet 3050 would be a cost-effective All-in-One and now I cannot use it all.

Could one try any other printer driver?

Hello,

HP does not offer a native printer driver for OSX 10.4.11 for the J610. But they do have a driver from an older HP printer that works.

The HP printer driver for an HP Photosmart D7400 series printer will drive a Deskjet 3050 J610 printer in Tiger 10.4.11.

To scan from the Deskjet 3050 J610 and save the image to your computer on a wireless network, Include Bonjour in the Safari browser, Preferences, Bookmarks, select the include Bonjour in the Bookmarks Bar, Bookmarks menu, and collections. Once you select the J610 in the Bonjour menu you will see the scanning utility. The Bonjour application is included with iTunes.

You may have to use a newer intel mac to configure the J610 to connect to your network. I borrowed a MacBook Air to get the printer running wirelessly on my network. The instruction manual that comes with the J610 shows how to setup the printer using a USB cable.

Great many thanks. In the past, I had solved the problem, by connecting the 3050 to a newer Mac and do the printing and scanning from Mac OS X 10.4 via network and this worked fine.
