Who fixes the HP/Lion interface problem?

I have an 8500a Plus (brand new) and I'm running OS X 10.7.2 Lion after the required upgrade for iCloud.  My 8500 doesn't recognize my Mac and can't scan to the Mac.  Is this a problem that HP had to wait until 10.7.2 was released to fix, won't ever fix or has to wait until Apple fixes it?  I have a MBPro running 10.6.8 which seems to work just fine, but that's a special purpose machine and not my everyday.  Just wondering how long I have to wait.

Re: Who fixes the HP/Lion interface problem?

Are you trying to scan TO your Mac from the front of the printer?  If so, it probably will not work.  Try scanning using the HP software or Image Capture (in your Applications folder).

Re: Who fixes the HP/Lion interface problem?

Yes, that's exactly what I'm trying to do.  I'm simply trying to determine who will be responsible for the fix, if ever.  Apple or HP, and when something might be forthcoming.  I realize that Lion has only been announced since mid year and that it takes time to go through the testing and updating of all the platforms.  Just really would like to see this fixed since it's such a great feature.

Re: Who fixes the HP/Lion interface problem?

I don't know and even if I did, I cannot discuss any products or software currently in development.  Sorry.

Re: Who fixes the HP/Lion interface problem?

I have the same problem as the above person, but I have a Photosmart Premium C410a, running OS X Lion 10.7.2.  As with the other person, scanning from the interface on the printer does not work, but I also cannot scan using the HP Software, either.  The HP software is not compatible with OS X 10.7.  Image Scanner does not work, since my printer is not recognized as also being a scanner.  How can I get my scanner working again?

Re: Who fixes the HP/Lion interface problem?

If you are using Snow Leopard or Lion and have HP software for pre-Snow Leopard (either from a CD not marked as compatible with 10.6 or you recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and had the HP software on your Mac before you upgraded - even if you did a standard uninstall of the old software or installed new software over the top of it) you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:

Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall <<<< This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish

Restart your Mac

Now reset the printing system:

- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Re: Who fixes the HP/Lion interface problem?

So I guess it's Apple if it runs on Lion that's responsible to fix HP / Mac problems that occur within it's OS interface? Why doesn't someone tell the purchasers this when they buy an HP device that support for interface issues has been turned over to a third party, in this case Apple. You guys took the money, does it mean we should give a fee to Apple?

This is weird!
