I had to reinstall my HP G85xi printer and the generic driver G_637_EN today onto my Mac IBook G4 PowerPC. I operate using Leopard (OS-X 10.5.8). The G85 has worked fine up until this point. But after reinstalling, it will print but I cannot scan.
When I tried to use (as I usually do) the G85 to "Scan to Adobe PDF", the scanner seems to work fine, the scan shows up in the small HP Scan window, but when I try to open the scan I get an error message that reads "The Application Named: Adobe Reader.app could not be found. Would you like to find it?"
I click "Yes" and the Browse window opens....I go to my "Applications" folder and look for Adobe. The Adobe files there (Adobe Reader 9.4 and 9.5) are both present, but they are not selectable. So, I am stuck.
I also have tried "searching" the Applications folder for "Adobe Reader.app", but only the Adobe Reader 9.4/9.5 show up on that search and neither are "selectable".
Whatever shall I do?
Thanks,
JSM

Hello,
Thanks for the post. On this one, I did find some information regarding Adobe (link beow) that may assist with this issue. I've also included some great "general information" regarding scanning/PDF's in the link below that. Good Luck!

Hello,
On this one, have you posted this question on the APPLE site? It appears the printer is responding as it should, but the MAC doesn't know how to address it. It may also be a matter of downloading/updating the Adobe app. I've included a link below..........Good Luck!

I kept playing with it....now operating in Snow Leopard and with the above, it works. In the process, I also discovered that once the scanner and computer could connect, even if Adobe could not be found, once I located where on my computer the files that I scanned were located, I could open them using Preview.
So, for the moment, all is well....
