It seems odd that I cannot get my iMac photos to print on my HP Photosmart 7510. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer, rebooting the computer, rebooting the printer. Before I throw this photo printer that will print everything but photos out the window, if anyone has some sage advice I would appreciate it.

How is the printer connected? What error messages do you get? What version of OS X?

Hi ... The Mac OS X version is 10.7.3 and I have tried connecting wirelessly (which is my 'normal') but also wired with no luck. The message I keep getting is that the printer is busy ... although, of course, it is not. I have tried printing from Photoshop and from Preview and get the same message. Thank you for your efforts and I look forward to any assistance you can provide.

Download and install this: support.apple.com/kb/DL907
Next, let's reset the printing system:
- Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Thank you for your help ... the problem turned out to be in the printer dialogue box. When choices are made in the presets drop down box (print from photo tray) and paper size (ie: borderless 4x6) one cannot also make choices in the drop down box that offers preview, layout, color matching, paper handling, cover page, paper type/quality and supply levels. I had made choices in the paper type/quality area where source is also available to be selected. When I left that piece alone, my photo printed.
One piece I will bring to your attention: the HP user guide does not give instructions on printing a photos directly from the computer. HP may assume that all users print from cards inserted in the printer but photographers using RAW format will typically use software such as Lightroom or Photoshop and then print. It would be helpful if HP gave print from computer guidance.

Sorry you're having this issue ... and sorrier that HP doesn't see fit to include instructions about printing from a computer. This is how I got photos to print:
1. Open the picture and choose print
2. In the drop down box choose your printer; in the Presets dropdown choose Print from Photo Tray; in the paper size dropdown choose the paper you're using (for me it's usually 4x6 with tab)
3. Don't touch the preview drop down
All of that said, I just tried to repeat the process as I had previously done it, and not a darn thing would print. It kept saying the printer was busy which it most certainly was not.
HP needs to figure this out and give us reliable steps to print photos from a computer on it's not so photosmart printer ... or I'll not be buying another anytime soon, but I will be needing to replace this disappointing piece of equipment.

By the way, I did try downloading the driver as the earlier reply suggested, resetting the printer and readding it. It didn't change anything for me ... photos still won't print.
