hp photosmart c4680 won't scan into Mac

I have an hp photosmart c4680, the printer and copier functions work well. However, it will not open scanpro and will not scan any documents or pictures into my Mac. I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and still the same issue.

Re: hp photosmart c4680 won't scan into Mac

HI,

Please clarify your Mac OS X version.

Additionally, make sure the printer directly connected to a free port of the Mac using a USB no longer than 2-3m length and without using any USB hub or extension.

Re: hp photosmart c4680 won't scan into Mac

Hi,

As you mentioned you have the HP Scan Pro application, the installed software is not intended for OS X 10.6.

Make sure to completely remove the software as following:

**Please be aware that performing the next steps will remove any installed HP Software.

1. Click on Go menu (Click the desktop, then look at the menu in the bar at the top of the page)
2. Select Applications
3. Select the Hewlett-Packard folder
4. Double-click HP Uninstaller application
5. Follow the uninstallation till prompted to select a device to uninstall
6. Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall
7. approve any prompt to uninstall any HP Software.

Next. download ans install the Snow Leopard software below:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL27838/mp-69219-2/PS_AIO_05_C4600_NonNet_Full_Mac_WW_108....

Once completing the installation. make sure to reboot the Mac and install the latest HP Update by clinking the Apple icon and the Software Update.

Regards,

Shlomi

Re: hp photosmart c4680 won't scan into Mac

Hi,

Glad I wasn't the only one having the problem.  I followed all the directions and installed the updated software.  The problem I'm having now is that HP Scan doesn't detect my scanner(C4680) even when I select that it is connected through the USB port.  Didn't think it would matter, but I read that cable length can make a difference. My USB cable is quite long.  If anyone could help me that would be great.  Thanks.

[ Edited ]

Running 10.6.8, I did exactly what you recommended (uninstalled hp software and reinstalled newer software) and still no luck. My USB cable is about five feet -- I've tried two different cables, also -- and it prints and copies just fine. I've restarted both the c4680 and my MacBook many times, and still no workee. Thank you very much for any help.
