HP PSC 2210 all-in-one is not printing black. I have tried 3 different cartridges, cleaning, and aligning and still no results or changes. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hello,
Wow, three cartridges! Not good. At this point, do not buy any more ink while we determine if there's anyting else we can do. Based on your post, I expect you've tried all of the standard troubleshooting, but please bear with me as I check the basics:
Are all three cartridges you've tried new? All genuine HP? And (pardon me for asking) you've made sure all of the protective tape is removed before inserting the cartridge?
And when you say 'clean', you mean you ran the cleaning utility as follows (?):
- Make sure the printer is loaded with plain, white paper. Remove any special or colored paper.
- Press Setup on the top control panel.
- Press 5 to select Maintenance , then 1 to select Clean Print Cartridges . The procedure takes about a minute and produces a printout, which may be discarded.
If the answer to all of the above is "yes", I fear your printer's circuitry may have gone bad, but lets not go there yet.
Regards,
Eric

Hi Eric,
Yes, all three cartridges were new, HP, and I removed the tape before installing them.
And yes, I used the cleaning utility, following the same instructions you listed, as supplied on the website.
I hope it isn't the circuitry. If it turns out that it is, is circuitry even repairable?
Thanks for your response.
Keri

Hey Kari,
It's not looking good at this point. So, just to make sure we're understanding completely before issuing a verdict... the carriage is moving like normal, and it's printing from the color cartridge, but no black? Not a single dot or line?

Hi Eric,
Yep, that is right. Color prints fine. Not even a single dot, line or smudge of black prints though.

Hey Keri,
One last thing: cleaning the printer contacts. We'd left this alone up to now because a contact issue would typically create an error message, but there's a slim chance it wouldn't. If you haven't done so already, please follow these instructions to clean printer contacts: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docnam
Regards,
Eric
