hp scan 3 crashes a few seconds after i hit the scan button - OS 10.6.8 - Deskjet 1050

Tried everything listed, HP Scan 3 still crashes a few seconds after hitting the scan button.

You should be able to download it from the tech support website, http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/hpsupport/index.pl , but I noticed upon my last click of "software update" on my mac it downloaded the HP software update anyway.

Found a possible workaround though until HP fixes the problem:

System Preferances -> Print & Fax -> Scan tab on the right side -> Open Scanner

Basically does everything HP Scan 3 would do anyway, apparently.  Found it by accident.

You can also use Preview or Image Capture in your Applications folder.

I have exactlly the same problem. As soon as I open hp scan 3, it crashes.

Thanks for the crash log, that was a great help.  We've figured out what is going on.  That being said, we are working on a fix and how to deliver it.  In the meantime, using Image Capture as previously discussed will provide you with scan capabilities until we get the solution out to you.

Same problem here: I remember I used the HP Scan without any problem a few months ago. Printing works fine. Just to add another, minor, detail to what has been written so far, the HP Scan application crashes only when the Printer/Scanner is switched on... HP, are you checking?

Sonic01 I have exactly the same problem. If I uninstall the software for the printer and run the setup up disk again it works, until Apple Software Update runs again and updates it.
