iMac using HP photosmart plus B210a-scanned document does not show up

after telling the scanner to scan from the iMac the scanner goes through the mechanical motions and notes the scan as succesful.

But the scanned document does not show up at the designated file in the iMac.

Now this occurred intermittently without any warning in late March early April 2012. But yesterday the scanner worked for 3 consective scans.  The time it did not work it would work for a couple of times and then not work for a couple of times.  So it was frustrating not being able to do my work.  I looked at error log of HP scanner at the time and wrote down the error message but I cannot find it at the moment.  The error message if I recalled correctly noted that the scanned result could not reach its designated file in the iMac. Yesterday I looked for error message but could not find it. But I found messages that the iMac removes some of its error messages by it self.  Is this true?

I looked to see if new drivers for the Hp scanner but I think I am up to date-as I checked the date of the HP software currently installed

My iMac is Mac OS X 10.6.8.

My iMac was not infected with a recent trojan. I checked it out.

I don't believe I changed anything up to that point ie no new software, only updates for Mac OS X as required

Hp machine product number :  CN216A

thank you for any suggestions

Re: iMac using HP photosmart plus B210a-scanned document does not show up

Hi,

There is a workaround for scanning if the printer connected to network

From you IMAC, launch the Safari and enter the IP address of the printer. It will launch the printer web page.

Select Scan tab and you can start scanning.

This will work on any computer regardless of softwre installed or not.

Happy Printing
