laserjet 1022 / OSX10.7.3 / prints one page and then lights flash.

Hey,

Every since upgrading to OSX 10.7.3 from 10.5.8 my printer seems to only

print one page from Pages application, Apples word processor. I've changed

USB ports and cables but the same problem persists. I read on Apples

discussion board that the application itself is the problem. This seems to be

the case as Safari, the web browser, prints ok.

It was suggested that I should download the latest driver software but the HP

support site says it is all now done through the OSX operating system leaving

me with no solution.

What to do?

Re: laserjet 1022 / OSX10.7.3 / prints one page and then lights flash.

If you are using Snow Leopard or Lion and have HP software for pre-Snow Leopard (either from a CD not marked as compatible with 10.6/10.7 or you recently upgraded to Snow Leopard or Lion and had the HP software on your Mac before you upgraded - even if you did a standard uninstall of the old software or installed new software over the top of it) you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:

Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall <<<< This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish

Restart your Mac

Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907

Finally, reset the printing system:

- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Re: laserjet 1022 / OSX10.7.3 / prints one page and then lights flash.

Thanks for reply.

When I say upgrade I mean bought a new iMac with 10.7.2 preinstalled

but I upgraded to 10.7.3 via the AppStore, sry. As soon as I connected

the 1022 to the new iMac, it started to download and install the drivers.

Can I still uninstall the automated installed software and install the

drivers from the apple link?

Re: laserjet 1022 / OSX10.7.3 / prints one page and then lights flash.

Additional.

I've just checked the version of the driver that I have already installed

and the version that is installed by the Apple download, they are both

the same version 1.3.0.261. I've already got the latest version!

Apple discussions suggested that it is a Pages application issue that

is a known bug. Is this possible and are you aware of such an issue?

Re: laserjet 1022 / OSX10.7.3 / prints one page and then lights flash.

I am not aware of a Pages issue, but that does not mean anything.  There very well could be one.

I suppose you could uninstall Pages and reinstall...  Have you tried repairing permissions?:

- Open Finder > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.  Open it.

- Click once on your Mac's hard drive (probably Macintosh HD), then click "Repair Disk Permissions" along the bottom.

- Let it finish, then restart your Mac.
