I have a mac os x 10.7.4 connected to a photosmart c309a. I use the mac drivers to scan document. Everything is updated and working fine. However, I would like to scan a document, copy it to word, and edit. How can I do this?

Hi,
The software for your printer provided by Apple Software Update and do not provide OCR functionality as part of the provided software.
For that purpose you will need to use any 3rd party OCR software.
There are several commercial solutions such as Read Iris, OmniPage, etc.
Vuescan is a nice and cheaper solution and Goggle Docs allow you to convert PDFs to OCR as much as I can read.
You may review the discussion below, It seems to provide many different solutions you may use:

Hope it helps,
