Yup.  Remove the output tray, open the lid as if to change ink, get a flashlight and look in there for any pieces of paper, broken parts, pieces of label, etc.

Now remove the rear door and do the same.

Re: paper jam problem officejet 4500 wireless

It actually appears the paper is not feeding from the bottom right side roller causing the paper to feed in crooked from the start

OK, take a cloth with rubbing alcohol and clean the roller from the front and/or the back.

Re: paper jam problem officejet 4500 wireless

disregard the front roller issue. there was wire/ piece protruding down from the plate above the front top right  output roller.

I was able to get a long knife bewteen the plate and roller and move "it" up out of the way. Printed a normal self test report.

Do you know what that was and will it likely happen again?

Thanks for the help.

Re: paper jam problem officejet 4500 wireless

This was likely an axle of a "star wheel"  These are thin metal wheels that actually touch the output paper to push it against the output roller.  It may have come loose when agressively removing a previous paper jam.:smileyhappy:

Re: paper jam problem officejet 4500 wireless

I have the same problem.  I tried all of the advice on this post, but something is still wrong.  I can print, but many times, the roller leaves a mark on my paper and more than one sheet print jobs normally get stuck.  I cannot see anything wrong with the output roller, but then again, I'm not a tech.

Re: paper jam problem officejet 4500 wireless

Check each starwheel on the output roller, especially the one that is lined up with the marks on the paper.

Also, try a heavier paper.
