photosmart all-in-one 2610 - drivers won't install - mac user

Lost my harddrive last week and had to reload some software.  My Photosmart is printing through the Mac drivers, and also faxing but the scanning function isn't working.  I figured it was becuase I hadn't reloaded the drivers.  So I reloaded, but it won't install.  Keeps telling me it doesn't recognize the device.  I don't understand, since the device is connect at USB port and is printing and faxing with no problem.   I'm out of warrantee and trying ot avoid paying $60 for phone support.  Can anyone help?  thanks, JD in California  --   jadymontgomery@mac.com

What version of OS X?  How are you trying to scan?
