psc1317 scanner problem

I have a mac os x 10.5 the hp psc1317 will print but there is a problem with the scanner which will not open. Help, please!

Hello! Could you please provide more information regarding the issue, such as what you mean by the scanner not opening? Are you receiving any sort of error message?

What application are you using to scan? Are you using included HP software or the scanning application built within your operating system?
Do you know if the job appears in any sort of queue or has any communication with the printer?

I see. I would recommend following the above article in full then. Please go step by step and make sure not to skip any steps unless they do not apply to your scenario.

Try unplugging the power cord from the back of the printer and waiting 30 seconds. Reconnect the power cord and after turning the product on hold the CANCEL button. While holding the cancel button press the start copy-color button. This will print a self-test page to provide you with information regarding your printer and for a diagnostic scan to occur.
Ensure that you have the HP full featured software installed. If this is installed, open the program and try to scan a test page.

Hello,
Thanks for the post. I've read through all of the recommended t-shooting provided and since we still cannot scan (but had been able to before), I might suggest uninstalling the software, resetting the print system and then downloading and reinstalling.
