Hey guys so i have been trying to install our HP Laserjet P1102W onto our Mac running OS X 10.7.4
Everytime i plug the USB into the computer it comes up with "The disc you inserted was not readable by this computer"
I've downloaded the drivers (even though with apple update your not suppose to have to) and i've tried restarting the computer along with unplugging it for 10 seconds to reset. But the computer will not recognize the printer or allow me to add it to printer list since it cannot see it.
The printer was formally hooked up to a PC and worked perfectly but since we switched to a mac i cannot get it connected so im wondering if there is anything coded on the printer
I've searched over and over and have seen the disc not reading problems but its typically after a change in the system but i cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the MAC to recognize the printer so i can install it
ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Thanks,
Taylor

Hi Taylor,
Thanks for the post. Just curious, can it read any other type of disc? Just for testing purposes, do you have another USB cable to test with? You are correct though, with ASU you should be able to download the drivers automatically and off to the races. I've included a couple of documents below that should help in getting this one resolved. Good Luck!

Hi KevinPatrick15,
Thanks for the post. With this one, I might suggest the following two links, they should be able to get you started. Good Luck!

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I also am getting the "Disc inserted not readable" message. Printer works fine on windows...use to work fine on my Mac OS LION 10.7.4 & Sno Leop 10.6.8.
Any help appreciated.

Ok I figured this one out.
I was having this same exact issue (on mountain lion OS) with the whole plugging in the printer USB and getting the "Disk inserted not readable" issue.
The problem (for me) was when installing the HP software.
Before starting any installation, make sure the printer is disconnected from your pc.
After downloading the latest driver package suit from HP, you end up with a .pkg file.
BEFORE opening the file and beginning the install process, you need to move the .pkg file into your applications folder in finder. AFTER doing this, proceed normally with the installation by clicking all the next buttons.
After completing the installation (assuming everything worked out) and attempting a first print, your mac may or may not ask you if you want to fix a botched install (it did for me) just say yes and everything should work!
