scanjet 4670 and Lion transition

Hi all

I own a beatiful scanjet 4670,  which si handy for me because of its vertical and movable scanner. In July Mac OS 10.7 Lion is coming and there will be no more support for PPC Applications, as HP Scan Pro is. HP is not updating drivers for years for my scanner. The question is: do I have ti change my scanner and look for a more compatible one or there is the possibility for even a third-party software to help me getting on using my scanjet? I can use it also as a branded photoframe:smileywink: Thanks for any informartion.

Unfortunately, the ScanJet 4670 is not compatible with Mac OS 10.7.  HP will not be updating drivers for this product.

Re: scanjet 4670 and Lion transition

Presumably, this would be true of the HP ScanJet 4000 as well?  This is the system one of the faculty I support uses.

I see it is  not on the list of supported products at

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c02917078&prodT...

The fact that the HP's list is so limited is very disappointing.

Re: scanjet 4670 and Lion transition

I also use this scanner as it has been the best one I have ever owned. If anyone finds an answer to this issue, please post it... In the meantime i will be searching the internet for (hopefully) an answer. It's just awful that HP decided to no longer support this wonderful piece of hardware, but I guess I understand ... =:-(

Re: scanjet 4670 and Lion transition

That's really nice. I have a scanjet 3770 which I really setisfied with till this time. But I upgraded to Lion and can't use it anymore. What a brilliant support. Just buy a new product because we upgrade our OS. Thank you very much HP :smileysad:((( Thats the real consumer care

Unfortunately the ScanJet 4670 is not supported on 10.7 (Lion). You can try using VueScan, which is a 3rd party software which many users have had success with. They offer a free trail to make sure it works with your device. Its definitely worth a shot.

Re: scanjet 4670 and Lion transition

unfortunately, the "VUESCAN" software does *not* work with this scanner. I installed the software on my macbook pro but received an error message...   "VueScan found an HP ScanJet 4600, but wasn't able to find a 64-bit Intel plugin for this scanner. Try downloading a 64-bit Intel driver for this scanner from www.hp.com. To try to use the 32-bit Intel plugin, click on the VueScan icon while holding the control key, choose 'Get Info' and check the 'Open in 32-bit mode' box... " I went back to the HP site, but was unsuccessful.

... but thanks for the suggestion.

[ Edited ]

There are reasons why I will NEVER EVER buy another HP product as long as I live (and I am young) and purposely orphaning products such as the HP ScranJet 4670 is one of them.

{Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion} You will never see another dollar from me. We - me and my extended family (in-laws, sister, brother, etc) are all weaning ourselves off of anything HP when we are an HP klan.

Perhaps you'll survice in the B2B world but you totally messed up in the consumer space. Maybe there are enough suckers out there that people like me don't matter????
