suddenly my deskjet 6988 won't print wirelessly

HP deskjet 6988 is hooked together with my desktop computer & wirelessly to my laptop via ATT uverse router. Suddenly the laptop can no longer get the printer to print. When I go into Devices & Printers I see the document is ready to be printed. Printer says READY when I go to print nothing happens. I go back into Devices & Printers & see the printer is now OFFLINE. This problem just occurred in last few days. Prior it was fine. Printer works from desktop computer.

I hesitate to call a repair person $50.00 printer is 4 years + 3mos. old?

Print a self-test from the front of the printer.  Does it indicate the printer is still connected to your network?

If so, restart the router by pulling its power plug momentarily, then reset the printing system:

- Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
