toner marks on left margin of printed pages

I just purchased a HP LaserJet 100 color MFP M175nw and set it up on my mac and pc laptop. Printing from the mac I'm getting toner marks on the left hand margin of the sheet. They're not exactly registration marks, but they look intentional. I get CMY on color pages and just K on greyscale pages. They go all the way from bottom to top of the page.

Any idea on what they are or how to turn them off?

Re: toner marks on left margin of printed pages

Hello sarabrylowski

I have a few questions to help troubleshoot your issue:

  • Does this also happen on your PC or just the Mac?
  • What operating system is the Mac running and what operating system is the PC running?
  • Is the printer on the network or connected via USB?
  • Also if you could include a scanned copy of the problem it would be most helpful.

Let me know if anything changes as well.

Re: toner marks on left margin of printed pages

Hello Sarabrylowsik,

Thanks for the post.  With toner marks, especially those that are duplicated on the page, we could be facing a couple of things.  The first being a defective or damaged imaging drum.  I've included a great link below with some information that should help you narrow that issue down.  Good Luck!
