HP 2013 UltraSlim Dock
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

Wondering if it is possible to plug a set of standard iPhone earphones (that have an in-line mic) into an HP 2013 UltraSlim Docking Station.

The hope is that the earphones will allow for both audio out from the laptop and microphone recording into the laptop. The iPhone earphones work perfectly this way when plugged into the laptop jack. When I plug the earphones into the line-out of the dock they work well (can listen to music), but the microhpone doesn't work when plugged into the line-in of the dock.

My idea is to use something like this http://www.cablechick.com.au/cables/avencore-4-pole-trrs-to-35mm-stereo-mic-splitter-cable-female-to...

or this https://www.pccasegear.com/products/32027/audio-splitter-cable-female-3-5mm-to-2-x-male-3-5mm

but my concerns are this http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=1849381&docId=emr_na-c04352894&docLocale...

Does anyone have any advice?
