HP Envy 15-as152nr audio problems

Product Name: HP Envy 15-as152nr
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought my laptop, HP Envy 15-as152nr and the audio is terrible, I'm trying to watch a movie online and when I have the volume up to 100, I can hear the people talking ALMOST at a normal level. However, when i put my headphones in, I can hear the audio just fine. I've uninstalled and installed the speaker drivers (Conexant ISST Audio) and it hasnt changed anything. Please help me. Thank you in advance.

Re: HP Envy 15-as152nr audio problems

Hey there! @macienrique, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand that you have audio issues with your PC.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes to your PC?

Have you tried checking with different browsers?

Try the steps recommended below.

Right-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.

Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button.

Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'.

Click Apply to save the change and then click OK in all remaining windows and check if the issue persists.

Let me know if this works!

Have a great day ahead! Smiley Happy

[ Edited ]

Hi MrRobot,

I didn't make any changes to the software or hardware.

I don't have that option on my laptop, all it says under enhancements is:

Speakers (Conexant ISST Audio).

The audio is the same across Edge and Firefox. What can I do?

Thank you in advance.

Re: HP Envy 15-as152nr audio problems

Hi MrRobot, thank you for the fast reply

I can't follow the steps that you mentioned, why is that?

I downloaded the driver like you said, but the audio isnt great, I have to put it at like 80 to be able to hear normally. What can I do? Thank you in advance.

Re: HP Envy 15-as152nr audio problems

I have exactly the same complaints as others regarding the abysmal audio quality of this device. I'm not expecting reference monitor quality but sufficient volume and lack of distortion to enjoy the system is a minimum expectation. Yes I have checked all of the boxes, loaded and unloaded drivers, had lengthy discussions with a tech and it still remains substandard.

Re: HP Envy 15-as152nr audio problems

Ok MrRobot,

I executed the steps you outlined and have noticed an improvement. Not where I think it should perform but at least audible. thank you for your efforts.

Re: HP Envy 15-as152nr audio problems

@DisgruntledOmen, thanks for your quick response and time.

As you mentioned you did see an improvement in the audio performance.

Do you use the similar model of laptop or is it a different one?

Try playing audio file saved on your PC and check if there is a difference in the audio.

Also, try the steps recommended below.

Start your multimedia app and play any file.
While music is playing, press Windows Key + S, enter sound and select Sound from the menu.
In the Playback tab double click the Speakers option to open its properties.
Go to Advanced tab and set the Default Format to a 24-bit value.
After you’re done, click Apply and OK to save changes.

Take care!

Have a wonderful day ahead! Smiley Happy
