No sound from my notebook g6

I am not getting any sound through my hp pavilion g6 notebook. Have uninstalled audio driver and reinstalled with up to date software. System says that audio driver devices are up to date but when I test speakers and headphones it says failed to play  test tone. Also do not get any sound on start up etc

here are notebook details:

Product name: HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1

IDT High Definition Audio CODEC- Driver stwrt64.sys - version 6.10.6319.0

ATI High Definition Audio Device -Driver AtiHdmi.sys - version 7.11.0.7706

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi JW13, welcome to the HP Forums. I will use the "HP Pavilion g6-1a69us" as reference, since HP manufacturers many G6 notebooks. Regardless the troubleshooting will be the same. This document will walk you through all the variables to help you resolve and diagnose the issue.

No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 7):

If you need further assistance, please find your exact model number. This document shows where you can find that information.

Let me know how it turns out.
