HP G2 450 ProBook
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello,

I am new on this forum. I own a HP G2 450 ProBook. I retrieved this laptop by a family member passing away.

Since I updated the OS to Windows 10, I had evergoing touchpad problems and WIndows 10 deleted my Windows 8.1 rollback.

So I installed a fresh copy of Windows 8.1. Still having problems with my touchpad. I used HP Support Assist to update my drivers. I was missing a critical BIOS upgrade.

I currently have an HP M74 motherboard, with version 1.05. For upgrading there is a password required for entering the BIOS. There is a 'user' part on the BIOS, with privileges of the first owner. This password I have for this account. But for changing settings on the BIOS, there is the administrator account. I need this one to upgrade the BIOS.

What I already did:

- used the standard bypass code: afxvh

- Used another code: e9lo7vf5g9

- I have removed the RTC-Battery on the motherboard.

- I have removed the RTC-battery for an hour, then assembled the HDD and RAM and pressed the Power on-Button. This was to empty all energy in the board. Then Installed the battery and all the other parts.

This all didn't work. Methods of 'Mizzaf' for bypassing the BIOS code, isn't suitable for my laptop.

WHo can help me reset the BIOS?

Hi,

Unfortunately there are no 3rd party utilities that will work for this Model, so you will need to  Contact HP Business support - they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

Regards,
