Hi,
I suddenly lost my touchpad. It can no longer track my mouse movements. The touchpad on/off toggle button does not seem to work anymore too. I cannot turn it on or off anymore. I restarted my system a couple of times without any results. Also tried uninstalling Synaptics Pointing Device Driver and subsequent installation of the latest version without any positive impact. Will be great if you happen to have any suggestions.

Hi,
It's always worth trying the following.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.

Hi,
You're welcome and good to hear it's working.
Regarding the on/off toggle, this functionality is provided by the HP version of the Synaptics driver available from your notebooks product page. Enter either your Model No. or Product No. on the following link, then download and reinstall the latest Synaptics driver - when complete, restart the notebook.

Tried everything. Trackpad didn't worl, wireless mouse didn't work, wired mouse not recognized. Spent hours trying all kinds of disables, disconnect, removals, reloads etc, The problem solved when rolled back to 1 month previous Windows update. Problem solved. Turned off auto updates. Will wait a month or 2 before accepting Window update again. I thought it was HP but no, problem is Microsoft!!!!!!!!
