Hi. I recently bought  HP Pavilion 11 Notebook PC 11-e113AU

When I started to use it, it is very slow. Scrolling slow. Switching windows is slow. It hangs a bit then continue to run again. I got comments after I posted that I bought that laptop and they said that laptop is crap and it has a very poor performance. Is that true? I am getting really worried because I'm starting to believe them because it really runs SLOW.

Even when doing simple tasks like scrolling or switching from window to window, minimizing window, and opening a folder, typing words it is slow and laggy. Especially when using Facebook in google chrome. Scrolling is laggy, very laggy

What seems to be the problem? This is brand new. I feel like we wasted a lot of money on this laptop. PLEASE HELP. What can I do to make it faster? I am really disappointed that I bought this. I am from the Philippines. Please help 😞

Hi again.

Thank you for the provided details

1. Yes, I think this McAfee product is not suitable for your computer's configuration. It might slow down your computer.

McAfee may be good at detecting viruses/malware but is know that it is not the fastest/lightest AV.

I suggest you completely uninstall it and restart your computer.

Finally, run McAfee removal tool

http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

Instructions ->  http://service.mcafee.com/faqdocument.aspx?id=TS101331

2. I am not aware of your computer's details but in order to change the processor you may also need to change the motherboard which is not a small change. If it can be changed my colleagues from the support will be able to answer better.

However, I don't think such a change is necessary at the moment. You/we haven't gone through all the possible options.

Let me underline again that these kind of mobile computers are generally not meant to be used for heavy loading such as graphical design software (example Adobe Photoshop / AutoCAD) or heavy gamings. They are smaller and lighter than the typical laptio, only 11 inch and mobility is their biggest advantage.

3. At this moment you don't need to add 4 GB additional memory. According to the provided data you currently use 1.79 GB of your physical RAM (less than 50%). If you add additional RAM at the moment, this won't change anything re. performance

4. Looked at your provided log file.

- Please, uninstall McAfee. Reboot. After that just enable Windows Defender (built into Windows)

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-2063942/turn-windows-defender-windows-windows.html

http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay?javax.portlet.begCache...

- Follow the steps previosly offered by Futoji

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05207140

such as disk defragmentation, deleting temp files, etc

Please, let me know how it goes after performing the instructions. I believe there should be improvement.

Don't hesitate to ask for help if you face issues.

Why the hell would hp sell this kind of laptop? Why sell a 1.0Ghz laptop and the os is windows 8.1?

Is there anything that I can do to improve the speed? If i increase the ram will it speed up? I really feel we wasted money on this 😞

Hello MigsZuniga,

I have checked over the spec's for  HP Pavilion 11 Notebook PC 11-e113AU, unfortunately what your seeing is correct.

As you're looking to try and speed it up a bit, here are a few things that may help:
Improving System Performance without Adding Memory (Windows 😎.

In the Maintenance and Service guide there is a replacement system board that would be a minor upgrade:
Equipped with an AMD A6-1450 processor, a graphics subsystem with UMA memory, for use on computers with the Windows 8.1 Standard operating system       Part# 744790-501
(its a 1.0ghz quad core)

For any other inquires on this, I would recommend contacting support.

Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

Thank you sir for that wonderful and respectful reply. But What does "there is a replacement system board that would be a minor upgrade" means? Change of a part inside the laptop?
HP Recommended

yeah by that he means to upgrade your processor

Hello MigsZuniga,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.

Here are the official minumum system requirements for Win 8 and 8.1

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/system-requirements

As you can see 1 Ghz processor is OK.

Windows can work on it.

Generally speaking, 4 GB RAM with multicore/dualcore processor is fine for 11 inch notebook. These class of machines are generally used for mobility and performance is not the most important thing on them. However, performance should be fine from hardware perspective.

The problem might come from the software that is loaded on the computer. You don't need to change anything as of now.

Software such as antivirus programs might be changed.

Please, download and install Piriform's  Speccy (free edition)

https://www.piriform.com/speccy

Run the program. Once it is ready, click on File -> Save and save/export a log file.

When you are ready, please attach this log file (by using the forum's option and Add Attachment function).

I will check it and advise further.

Thank you!

Good day sir IT_WinSec.

1. My Antivirus is McAfee. Does it contribute to the slowness of my laptop?

1.PNG2.PNG3.PNG

4.PNG5.PNG6.PNG

2. Can we change the processor in laptops? Because from what I know is we can only change the RAM.

3. A friend of mine told me to add another 4gb of ram to my laptop to make it faster so all in all I will have 8gb of RAM, will it help?

4. Here is the file from Speccy.  https://www.mediafire.com/?919o21nwx199u3g (wasn't able to locate the add attachment option)

I hope you can help me with all my questions sir. Thank you very much for the help. God Bless.
