HP Stream Laptop
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Hello,

My laptop, which is only 3 months old, has suddenly started typing Z's repeatedly whenever I try to enter text (word, internet searches, google docs, etc). If I hit delete, it will pause momentarily and continue "fighting me" and repeat Z's.

I disconnected it from any wifi and the problem presists. I did a system restore, restart and update, and looked for any keyboard logger that was running or installed with no luck. The computer is protected and all scans have been clean. No alerts or anything. We only installed one program since we got it and that was from a disk.

I can guarentee that it has nothing to do with gunk, spills, or anything affecting the actual "Z" key. The computer was literally used about 10 times in those 3 months.

Thank you in advance for any assistance!

Hi,

Please check if the issue persist in Command Prompt, Safe Mode and in Notepad. If Yes, kindly call up HP Support to get the Keyboard replaced.

The problem continues. The interesting thing is when I try to type the Z key, it is the only one that will not work. It only goes on it's own. After shutting down, the problem will go away, but comes back after a short while. Any other ideas before having to replace it?

Thank you!

Justin
