Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I don't remember if I shut my computer system down the last time I used it, but when I open it and tried to turn on with the power button it would not come on so I plugged in the power cord and the light beside the adaptor started to blink continuosly with no pattern and the power light came on without having pushed it to turn on the computer (which I always have to push power button to turn the computer on when I open the top) and there was a blank black screen.  I can't get the computer to turn off or make any changes to the black screen by using the  escape button or CAD.  Battery doesn't appear to be charging since it has been plugged in for over an hour and when unplugged no lights come on.  I have also tried a hard reset with no luck.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
