Resetting to factory defaults only really resets windows 7 options back to default settings, it doesnt clean up your cmos/boot directory on your harddrive which is where the drivers are installed. The only way to reset that is by reformating, wiping the whole harddrive clean. Usually repair centers use an external harddrive and it backs up your hard drive, then they will reformat your computer, and charge you $100+ for something you can do for free.
Clock settings, make sure you are looking at the hardware settings on the catalyst control center. Some 3rd party programs give you wrong numbers. It could also be because your drivers are seeing your gpu as something else. That all depends on what drivers you are using. I recommend 12.2 preview at the moment.

Wow i feel your pain, I am also so pissed that our laptops are crashing right out of the box. Who knows their might actually be some crazy weird issues with our laptops. If they will do it for free the go for it. I am sure however all they will do is reinstall windows by formating the drive. On my laptop, as soon as i got it, i hated that HP seperated the drive into 3 partitions. First thing I did was delete the partitions to make my main partition larger then reinstalled windows, also to delete all their bloatware which I hate.

hey there kyang,
I've read on a couple of forums people saying that a HP representative assured them new drivers would be out march-april, but I'm not sure about the integrity of those statements. I think it's unlikely that they'll release new drivers anytime soon, especially from what jackson has said!

I is a shame that there is no actual customer to producer support. For example the question of when the new drivers will arrive?" I can not see any way of emailing the HP support an email asking this question.
All I found was option to talk to a representative of HP support of the chosen country, which is silly (what does he know) + the call costs a lot , for information that is not even valid.
