Me again. So hp has agreed to replace my laptop, and will do so via ringing me on Monday. I also received an email with an authorization form to replace it at jb hi fi. My question is, should I wait and see what HP offers, or replace it at jb? My laptop only crashes when the 12.2+ drivers are installed, so would getting a new laptop of the same model even fix this problem?

I have another problem, i installed Catalyst 12.2 and recognize my graphic card as a 6740 O_O. How can i fix that problem?

That's so awesome the are replacing your computer like they should. Well I was testing 12.3 but I'm having many issues with it. It's over setting gl shaders and anti-l is to set too high for the 7690 and it crashes it so I don't recommend 12.3. These issues are again because stupid HP is using modified AMD GPUs and and drivers aren't designed for our graphic cards. Then swithicg back to 12.2 I uninstalled correctly with registry key failures so I finally reformatted to do a clean install. Then I found out HP is soooo bad with tech support they don't even have the right drivers under the Dv7t 6c00 quad which I have. Does HP do anything right. Had to ymuse driver genius to find propped drivers.

As in previous posting HP 7690 is NOT a 7000 series GPU (false advertising - we should sue) is only a 6770 gpu with it's memory oc by 100 which we could all have done. I dot my hands Ina friends dv6 with 6770m gpu, I oc it to match the 7690m with default drivers and the 6770m had a 1.2% increase in 3dmark11 and 2.1% increase with 3dmark06. Once again I believe this is because the7690m is ot a real gpu and no time was spent developing drivers for it to try and make it shine more then the 6770m.

I don't mind the decrease in clock speed with 12.2 because I theory lower speeds means cooler temps and laptops always burn out fast. Maybe in the future when a new game comes out that needs more kick, oc up a bit.

Note if you are moving off stocked hp drivers because of the switchable graphics issue then don't. Amd switchable graphics rarely works right. Only upgrade I'd your having issues with open gl games like swtor which won't run on hp drivers.

@herrer ignore what your computer calls your gpu it still runs the same. Long story short 7690 is just relabeled 6770.

@CJacksonLASD What do you mean? I have the dv6t 6c00 (same as your computer but with a smaller screen). Are you saying the drivers on the HP website (http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html) aren't the correct ones? What version of the driver do you have? Did the crashing stop after you installed the correct ones? Can you still play SWTOR?

The drivers that were no listed were the USB 3.0 and the network drivers were not listed. For example my computer has the Realtek LAN and wireless card installed but it's not listed under my laptop model drivers. The 3.0 were also wrong limiting them to 2.0 speeds. But with those wrong who knows what else might be wrong. But with everything I have now my laptop works better with swtor and bf3. I'm running 12.2 preview drivers for gpu that was the last thing I installed. Only minor hangs and crashes.
