Hello,
I've just bought an HP DV6-6C90ef with the 7690MXT GPU.
All the game I've tested went glitchy ; I've had polygon artefact and reminiscent blue dots.
I got the same kind of glitch when the laptop use the 7690 GPU, whether GPU selection was Fixed or Dynamic and with original HP driver, 12.3 and 12.7 Catalyst drivers.
It's been suggested that PowerPlay should be disabled to avoid such issue with the GPU. Unfortunately, in this case Catalyst seems to always choose Intel Integrated chip as the FPS is lower.
As for 12.6 version many people recommend here, are you talking about "official" 12.6 release or 12.6 betas?
Because the regular one doesn't allow me to install it as the GPU is not recognised.
I haven't tested 12.2 though.
As for driver setup, should I install new drivers by overwriting HP ones, or could I uninstall them then install the new version?
There're already many complaints about that GPU driver support, still I should say I am very disappointed that even original driver could not run properly games released 3 years ago! The issue is related to switch between 2 GPUs. Unfortunately, every high end laptop have this technology. I cannot even be sure if any other laptop that could be exchanged at the same price would let me play without being concerned if driver support is up to date.

Dude if you just bought your laptop, ask the store for a refund (if you are inside the days of the warranty cover) or do like me, fight for almost 5 months until you get a proper working laptop.

Return it now ASAP. Get a full exchange or at least full refund from the store - no exceptions.
And I've been fighting for at least 2+ now...

So I recieved my HP DV6 with A8-3520 + 6620G with a 7690M and it works great. The only games I ran so far was Mafia 2, Dead Space, Company of Heroes and World of Tanks. World of Tanks is playable but sometimes the fps drops to around 12-15 but maybe because its an online game but most time I get very playable fps around 50 fps or more. Mafia 2 and Dead Space and Company of Heroes run great.
But the thing is I amnot sure if it is running off the integrated GPU or dedicated GPU or crossfire? Is there a way for me to change it so it runs off the Dedicated GPU at all times, so I can see if the dedicated GPU is even working. These games are old and the AMD A8 APU has a decent gpu. But yeah like one of the other poster said - its just a bad marriage with Intel and AMD graphics card.

OK guys,
I'm in the same situation as you. I do have a HP DV7-6C50ca which came with a i5 2450m 6GIG Ram and 7690m XT graphic card. I bought this laptop over a asus G53 cauz mainly for the better screen, sound system, slimmer, lighter than the G53. BUT I didn't read enought on the laptop itself before buying it and it was not my main computer since I have a gaming desktop. So now I passed every existing possible return date.
I did a couple of research on the graphic card itself and I found this interesing website http://leshcatlabs.net/
So basically, it's a group of people pissed like us but with insane skills in building drivers. All you have to do is uninstall this "{Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion} HP driver. Install Drive Sweeper, clean the reamining "{Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion} " HP driver from your ubber computer (reboot) and install this ubber driver from leshcat. There you are up to date 12.7 drivers with switchable graphic cards. Tested on mine still have 8 hours of battery life. When playing games the ATI does kick in but in some games like Max Payne 3 you have to use the option "fixed" in the bios in order to use DX11.
I do overclock my graphic card with these drivers, in MP3, I have 40-45 FPS DX11, 1600x900, High Settings, Tessellation Normal, FXAA Normal, HDAO and It's totally smooth !!
Hope this help folks like me who have a decent graphic card without proper support. It my first HP product and the last one. Thank you HP !

No refund, no prorated refund, no exchange. I'm the proud owner of a 1200$ paperweight. Thanks HP.
I don't supose any wahoos around here know how I could AT LEAST beg for a motherboard replacement (and be willing to buy the part) that DOES NOT HAVE THIS HORRIBLE FAKE AMD CHIP. The nvidia 650m's on the new boards that came after ours are fine, as are the 7800 series on an amd board with an a8 or a10 .... just please....
No more of *this* ...... you have no idea how utterly heartbreaking and defeating it is to have a 1200$ PAPERWEIGHT. A flipping PAPERWEIGHT.....
Moreover I'm likely to brick the thing going through all that leshcat crud...... it's ridiculous - just to get a gpu that can't play 3 year old games worth a crud anyway because it should have *never been sold as a mid to high end card* to begin with? Ugh. (6770m's are utter crud in fact and were even when they came out).....

GUYS I NEED YOUR HELP ASAP.
I bought my DV 7 couple of months ago. I did visit this forum right after I buy it and I saw driver which I installed. And I guess I lost 100mhz and I don't know what else. Now after installing that driver my graphics is in very big problem. I cannot run Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, nor GTA IV even when I put High Performance settings. I cannot run at all Adobe Premiere Pro, it says "Adobe Premiere Pro could not find any capable video modules. Please update your video-display driver and try again." OKay so I did everything. I was chatting with HP support assistant over the Support center from HP i got with laptop. One nice girl tried everything yo help me. From recovery, reinstalling drivers. Ok, i remember couple of weeks after I buy it everything worked like charm. And than I installed new version of drivers from HP site. Now I cannot run AdobePremierePro. I'm working with it don't know what to do...
I paid laptop over than 1000$ here in Serbia, Belgrade). We tried reinstalling windows, drivers putting on HighPerformance swich graphic, and again nothing.
AND YES, one more thing I cannot install anymore "sp55098" for my graphic card. I did install this right after I buy PC (before i install drivers and CCC from ATI site) I could instal it. But now, after reinstallation with assistance of HP supporter it's shows me an error message "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software" . And I can only press OK. -.- I know i can install those because I did it coouple of months ago and it worked. And than I saw this **bleep** forum and I installed those drivers "http://downloads.guru3d.com/AMD-Catalyst-12.2-Prev
CAn anyone tell me what's problem and how can I fix it witout going into HP store here in Serbia. I have warrty 'do... So I think they'll fix it. But I want to hear your opinion.
THANKS VERY MUCH.

Well, i've HP Pavilion Dv6-6C50SE with AMD RADEON HD 7690M XT, i've windows 7 32bit and i always have problems. Freezing, display driver doesn't respond, low frame rate, etc...
Finally i find out the solution:
- Remove all the currently installed drivers.
- Install these drivers:
This package is for my DV6-6C50SE, if you have another model just open google.com and in the search box write:
Your HP Model drivers for example, for my model i write: HP DV6-6C50SE Drivers.
3. Go to this link: http://sites.amd.com/US/GAME/DOWNLOADS/Pages/downl
4. Make sure to remove any Fraps programs if you have.
I've tried these steps and the performance of my GPU was amazing, no freezing no error messages as well as increasing my gaming performance.
Max Payne 3 frame 45 FPS at highest settings.
Try these steps and Good Luck.
