Re: ABOUT THE BAD NVIDIA CHIPS PUT INTO LAPTOPS!

[ Edited ]

I'd like to agree with you but, Starting a Large Corporation may be hard but once the consumer accepts you and bring good products to the Market I think it becomes easier than you think. The original Founders of HP would no longer be there. New people Buy In or Shareholders Vote some Newby Executive type in and that's about it. Once the "Newby Type" is elected in on a Salary we could only ever dream of, He/She wouldn't ever get on their knees to scrub Floors or sort through Parts Bins looking for Parts on an Assembly Line. The most work they would ever do again is lifting their arm signing an Order to Scrub the Floor or Sign a Requesition Form for that New, Not yet released Shiny New Laptop sitting on the shelf down in the Stock Room.

Sure, they might walk with the other Executives through the R&D Department (Where the Real Hard Yards are done) explaining the new Clean Room that was installed a week earlier while they explain how another Company has Lost Shares on the Stock Market due to FAULTY Products hitting the Market. Once you become a High Paid Executive with all the Perks, You'd soon forget where you came from.

Maybe I'm being a little hard on them..You Think? lol

However, I don't agree with your statement of Laptops having a Shelf Life of 3 years. I know I can't afford one every 3 years and even if I could, I'm sure if I had Kids, they'd love to have my 3-5 year old Laptop to use on the Internet.

I don't think you'd agree that your car should only last 3-5 years, would you? Mitsubishi, here in Australia (For people who aren't Aussies) have a Ten Year warranty on their Power Train Componnets and Five years on every thing else.Believe it or not. I have 2003 Pajero and it had been recalled for the Accumulator on the Brakes. Becuase if you start the car and drive off straight away and Brake, You might find it a little hard to push the Brake Peddle. You still have Brakes, just a little harder to push.

Anyhow, the point of this thread is that there's a Faulty Product that put on the Market and didn't fulfil it's intended lifetime use. In one of my posts I stated that if My HP Laptops hard drive stopped working or any other fault that was not known about,Or it just failed from normal use I'd suck it up and say bad luck. The problem that makes me angry and thousands of other people is when the Laptop you thought you could depend on and spent good money on it, Hardly used it, Kept it in brand new condition and hoped it would last you a lifetime is put on the Market with a known fault and won't be repaired.

That's about it.

Thanks for your reply.

Regards,

Damian Mueller

P.S. Just to let you know how long I've been around. I purchased my First Hard Drive for my Floppy Drive Only IBM XT for over $1500.00 when they first came out. That was a 10mb I think the 20mb came out 3-6months later. You couldn't believe how the 4 color CGA Monitor looked when I first got it. WOW, 4 Colors. What an acheivement. Everything on the screen had a Purplish hue to it, but wow. I had 4 colors I could play with... LOL..

Re: ABOUT THE BAD NVIDIA CHIPS PUT INTO LAPTOPS!

I did recieve consent, i stated that in the post... I discussed with both case managers that I would repeat the information on this forum. They said that was ok but they would only talk to others about my computer.

I also would love it if my picture and email and personal information was on a billboard...I really would. Because I would love to listen to peoples problems and try to help them. I suggest the wording of the rules be changed, because that is not a factual statement. My email doesnpot disclose who I am. And anyperson can message me anyway, so it really is moot.

I did read the the rules, Ind I complied. All information was not personal no specific names were used ie "Mr Elric" does not give away personal information or Corey. Those are not complete names and the employee number of a Case Manager is not personal but public informaton..How am I to recieve any personal information about employees if they are not allowed to give it to me either. Obviously as a moderator you are blocking the communcation between case workers and those who are misinformed on this site.

Re: ABOUT THE BAD NVIDIA CHIPS PUT INTO LAPTOPS!

TO ALL

I AGREE 100%... MY LAPTOP IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND IS NOW A 2000.00 PAPER WEIGHT.

DUE TO HP'S LACK OF ACTION I AM NOW A "HAPPY" DELL CUSTOMER.

I AM SICK OF COMPANIES LIKE THIS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE CONSUMER.

WE ALL CAME TO HP BECAUSE WE THOUGHT OF THEM AS A TRUSTED SUPPLIER OF "QUALITY" COMPUTERS AND NOTEBOOKS

APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT THE CASE... AS THEY HAVE CLEARLY SHOWN US ALL

THIS IS WHY I AM NOW SHOPPING AT DELL AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO !!!!!

Re: ABOUT THE BAD NVIDIA CHIPS PUT INTO LAPTOPS!

I too am a disappointed DV9000 series owner. I bought this laptop in February 2007 for just over $2000 and now I am the owner of a useless black screen display. I am very unlikely to purchase another HP product to replace this one as well as my outdated Dell desktop. I am also telling others about my experience and the numerous complaints I am reading about. This is no way to promote customer brand loyalty!

Hello everybody,

Less than 24 months. I purchased the laptop in March of 2008 and didn't open it until April of 2008 ( I was out of the country and had it shipped to my home.

My video is not completly gone yet but the laptop has had a history of heating issues when trying to play any games, this is due to the Nvidia malfunctions in the video card I am sure. Yesterday and Today my laptop is crashing for video errors and having artifacts, It's a matter of time before completely gone.

I had an issue with customer support to replace the faulty keyboard but eventually replaced it myself. I am not paying 400$ or anything to replace a known issue.

Re: ABOUT THE BAD NVIDIA CHIPS PUT INTO LAPTOPS!

Anyone got any help on this issue yet?

You can look this up on youtube and try to fix it yourself. It is a lot of work. You can also have them fix it for you, rebootit seems like a good choice if you take this route. I've given up hope on HP. I called in, and the rep adamantly denies any knowledge of this NVIDIA issue...Sure enough, after 40 minutes on the phone with him, he then admits that he got many calls regarding this issue... The best offer he gave me was fixing it for $400 (new motherboard) or buy another HP product and they will give a free extended warranty. LOL  BING [Text Deleted] [text removed]

Unless a public acknowledgement of this issue or some sort of redemption on HP part, I am not buying another HP products and hoping you guys will do the same. In fact, don't even consider HP cameras, printers, keyboard, even paper. I am spreading the words as much as I can, at work, online and through friends.

The fact that they release a patch to speed up the fan tells us that they are aware of this situation. The fan patch prolong the issue for another few months for most people and this is just enough expires the warranty.

Re: ABOUT THE BAD NVIDIA CHIPS PUT INTO LAPTOPS!

HP refuses to acknowledge or address the problem.  Stock answer is "out of warranty, $400 to fix it".

I'm sick of being raked over the coals by a company that acts like a two-bit thief.

Take a look at my new blog, and tell YOUR story about how HP has treated you.

Re: ABOUT THE BAD NVIDIA CHIPS PUT INTO LAPTOPS!

Add me to the list. One more... The screen is starting to fritz out. When it finally dies will I still at least be able to get on in safe mode?

The only good news about this is that you get a little warning... I am now backing up all data on DVD...

always look on the bright side of life!!!!

mine lasted 2 years before starting to die. apparently better than most....
