Broken VGA-out?

Hi all,

I've had my HP Elitebook 6930p for just over 3 years now (just enough to pop the guarantee), and now suddenly my VGA-out stopped working. My usual setup has been to keep the laptop connected to an external monitor or TV, keyboard and mouse with the lid closed. One morning my external monitor was completely black; it could get a signal, but I couldn't see anything. By flicking around with the settings, I somehow managed to see the desktop. However, it looked like it had a very low resolution with very few colors. In addition, it seemed to be flickering a little whenever I moved the mouse. And when I clicked on something (e.g., right-click on the desktop), it went black again! I can't get anything on my TV.

What do you think has happened? Is my graphics card broken, and if so, what can be done about it?

My specs are the following:

Inter Core2 Duo CPU T9400 @ 2.53GHz
2048 Mb RAM
HP Motherboard, 30DC, KBC Version 87.21
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series

BIOS: 68PCD Ver. F.05
