CCC is gone and cannot REINSTALL!!!

Hi, i own an HP DV7T-6000, with 6770 graphics.

I was experiencing trouble with the update of the catalyst software. After being asked to update my version to the 12.4, Catalyst never updated, and the CCC stopped initiating with windows. I decided to unistall it and try to make a fresh install of the 12.4 software that had downloaded. Now i can't get the CCC to work again, not even the one wich is available at the HP driver's webpage.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=5078662&...

I would need some assistance, ASAP please.

Thank you very much.

Re: CCC is gone and cannot REINSTALL!!!

Hi,

Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your original AMD Graphics Driver - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.

Recovery Manager - Windows 7

If the reinstallation completes Ok, restart the notebook.

Regards,

[ Edited ]

Hi!

Thank you for your reply. Though i must tell you that it didnt work.. I reinstalled the "AMD High Definition Graphics Driver" but it didn't bring back the CCC... I tried reinstalling the "Intel Graphics Driver (64-bit)" and it wasn't able to do it.. So i'm thinking that i need to unistall something related to that software, which could be troubling the instalation of the CCC soft..

Also, i tried using the AMD Driver Autodetect tool to auto-download/install software but when i start it, it gives me a message "We could not find your product or OS".

Any other ideas? If i do a factory reset, i'll lose my data?

Regards!

EDIT: I also have to say, that if i try to install the Intel graphics driver, downloaded from the HP drivers webpage, it gives me an error: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software."

Re: CCC is gone and cannot REINSTALL!!!

Hi,

If you have switchable graphics ( AMD and Intel ), you can't install the drivers seperately - they should both be installed using the relevant AMD installer from HP.

See if this slightly older version will install - AMD Installer.

After the installation has completed, restart the notebook - if there are any specific error messages, include them with your next post.

Regards,

Re: CCC is gone and cannot REINSTALL!!!

I downloaded and installed it, but the only program that did install was the AMD catalyst instalation manager, and with warnings in the instalation, though when i try to see the log it just says "Other device detected". Any other ideas?

Thank you very much, regards!

Re: CCC is gone and cannot REINSTALL!!!

Hi,

You're welcome :smileyhappy:

Open windows Control Panel and open up Programs and Features - do you see the AMD Catalyst Install Manager listed here?

Also, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Display Adapter - what devices are listed here?  For each of the display devices, right click and select Properties - on the General Tab, is there any error showing in the 'Device status' box and if there is, what is it?

Regards,

Re: CCC is gone and cannot REINSTALL!!!

Thank you very much for all your assistance so far.

I bring you the info you requested.

In the programs list the "ATI Catalyst Install Manager" does appear. Though in the Devices Manager, the AMD HD 6770M DOES NO LONGER APPEAR!!!!!

The only Display adapter that is there is the "Intel HD Graphics Family", which is "working correctly". I've tried using the "scan for hardware changes" option but the ATI GPU won't appear anymore. I'm starting to think that i should unistall this Inter HD Graphics Family and see if the PC recognizes the ATI again.. any other ideas??

Thank you! Best regards!

Re: CCC is gone and cannot REINSTALL!!!

Hi,

Try the following.

Open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features and double-click the AMD Catalyst Install Manager.  Click 'Next' on the initial screen and then select the option 'Express Uninstall All AMD Software' - follow this process through to conclusion and also uninstall the actual 'Catalyst Install Manager' when the option appears.

When this has completed, restart the notebook.

Re-download and run the AMD installer on the link below.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55092.exe

When this has completed, restart the notebook again.

Does CCC now work?

If not, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, click View and select 'Show hidden devices'.  Open up Display Adapters - what devices are listed here?  If just the Intel Adapter is listed, are there any other entries in the Device Manager list that are showing as 'Unknown device'?

Regards,

Re: CCC is gone and cannot REINSTALL!!!

Thank you again!

I did the first thing you recommended me, though with no success.

I tryed the second sugestion, and i have some info for you. I have no "Unknown devices" BUT i do have one "amdkmdag" with an exclamation mark, in "Non-Plug and Play Drivers".

When i see its properties, in "General" it gives me "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)"

Could this be the begining of the resolution-path?

Hi,

Try the following and let me know.

Shutdown the notebook.

Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook - this should launch a menu.  Do you see an 'f2 diagnostics' option?  If you do, launch this and run the test on the video.

Let me know the result or if the f2 option is not available.

Regards,
