Can the NVIDIA 8600M GS graphics card be replaced in my dv9730nr laptop?

My question is: Can I replace the NVIDIA 8600M GS graphics on my dv9730nr motherboard? I have spent a lot of time trying to find the answer to this question. I have been unable to determine if the motherboard has a MXM connector on it or if the graphics card is soldered to the board. Does anyone know?

Hi:

Below is the link to the dv9700 service manual.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01951704.pdf

There are no procedures to remove and replace the video chip.

That is because it is integrated (soldered) onto the motherboard.

The entire motherboard needs to be replaced in order to replace the graphics chip as well.

Thank you for the information. I was afraid that the graphics card was soldered. I had already downloaded the pdf of the link you sent me. The information in it does not go into detail about the motherboard or it's components. I was unable to find anymore information about it on the web either. I guess I will salvage some parts and go shopping for another laptop. Thanks again.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately that is a common issue with that model notebook and video chip.

It produces too much heat and starts frying stuff.
