Choppy Video When In Fullscreen Mode -- G60-445DX Laptop [ Edited ]

I have a G60-445DX laptop and everything is great with it except for one thing: videos that I play online (except only YouTube, for some reason) is extremely choppy when I try to go full screen. This is an issue I have found nothing about from other users of this laptop (oddly enough, I've never heard of an overheating problem with the laptop either even though there is a HUGE one, but that's beside the point). I tried to talk to HP support about this and they gave me a ridiculous answer, as expected. They told me that it was probably the website that had the video and not their precious laptop. I disagree big time. I have a PC that I built myself about four years ago that completely pales in comparison to the power of this laptop, especially in the area of video. I never have problems displaying anything in full screen on the exact same websites that use on the laptop.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why this happens? It's really frustrating, as it is a new laptop and it's done this since the day I got it. Thank you.

I have to be honest. I have the same laptop as you and I have the same problem as you.

Sometimes the videos get very choppy, even with youtube.

I think is an bad video driver or the processor is too slow, I don't know.

Also, the laptop heats a lot!

I am very disappointed with this HP model.

I found this while looking for an answer to the same problem you are looking for and it worked for me

My daughter has also one of those choppy screens and was in despair. It's cheap yes that G60, but with that screen it is sad. So, this video card simply doesn't have the horsepower. To solve the problem, crank the resolution down to something acceptable to you, and bingo....it works. You may want to switch back after the film, but that is the price to pay. Have fun!

I hade the choppy video too and it drove me nuts.

I updated the video driver from the Nvidia website, Installed the latest flash and silverlight.   I use firefox as my browser so I removed it and all personal settings,  then reinstalled the latest one 3.6.  Since then I have not had the choppy video in full screen.  

The overheating thing though is crazy.  it should be a recall, it gets too hot.

Hey I have exactly the same problems!!

Also, my laptop randomly shuts down on me. I think this may be caused by over heating. I have no idea quiet yet.

Ok, I'm pretty sure I have the solution to this problem, which I have not yet seen posted. I seemed to have the exact same problem. Laptop ran really hot and flash videos were choppy (especially in full-screen mode), and fan was loud, even from when I bought it, from what I remember. I tried a bunch of stuff to fix it, but nothing worked. Nowhere on the Internet could I find the solution. It seemed to get progressively worse and I hated my laptop for a long time. Other people noticed my fan was running super-loud and when I put my hand up to the fan outlet, there was hardly any airflow.

So what I did is instead of taking the laptop apart and cleaning the fan, I used my brother's air compressor and shot the air through the fan (blow air through the outlet side of the fan). I immediately saw a bunch of dust come out from the inlet, although it didn't look like much. Skeptical that this amount of dust would have made a difference, i turned on my computer and let it run, and it was quiet as a mouse. No loud fan, lots of airflow coming out of the outlet, and videos ran perfectly. I was totally amazed but also pissed off that I didn't try that earlier (especially all the time i spent trying to search for advice on the internet and trying to fix it other ways). I think the dust built up on the air filter or something, thereby blocking the air path, hence the fan would try extra hard to try to dissipate the heat from the computer, running really loud but still not able to suck any air due to the blockage.

So if you have access to an air compressor, or if you take the laptop apart and clean the fan, I guarantee everything will work much better. I now love my laptop instead of hating it, and really glad I don't have to deal with choppy and unwatchable flash videos and flash games on the internet. Works great. I hope this advice helps people and relieves them of their headache every time they try to watch a flash video. Please try it and comment to say if it worked for you or not.
