Hi,
Check the blinks below matches any of the following:
All these blinks pause for 2 seconds and then repeats again, like Caps lock light blinks once then there is a pause of about 2 seconds and then blinks once again...similarly 2 blinks every few seconds, 3 blinks.etc..............to 6 blinks every few seconds.
If you can determine the number of blinks before it pauses for 2 secs then you can find out which hardware is causing the prob and troubleshoot accordingly.
You can also follow some of the steps from this link::
| LEDs blink 1 time | CPU | CPU not functional |
| LEDs blink 2 times | BIOS | BIOS corruption failure |
| LEDs blink 3 times | Memory | Module error not functional |
| LEDs blink 4 times | Graphics | Graphics controller not functional |
| LEDs blink 5 times | System board | General system board failure |
| LEDs blink 6 times | BIOS | BIOS authentication failure |

Ok it blinks once and approx 2 seconds later it blinks again and continues to go this the whole time I have it on. According to this chart that means CPU failure. How difficult would this be to fix? And would this happen slowly? It done this a week ago and I restarted it 3 or 4 times and it worked fine then it done it again last night and after restarting it a few times it worked again. Now tonight no matter how many times I do this it won't work. Is this something I can do myself or does it require a professional? Thanks for you help.

Yes it is a CPU failure. The problem could be intermitent initially sometimes. Performing a hard reset may fix it temporarily.
Yes to get it fixed you have to get the necessary hardware replaced. You can contact HP Technical Support and they should be able to get it fixed. If it is still under warranty then it'll be covered under warranty or otherwise it'll be a paid service.
