DV2810US Blue screen only at start up

Purchased 4/08            Rececnt problem of screen "flickering" then going blank. Intermittent at first,now screen is light blue?   Function button lightens and darkens the screen. I am pretty sure windows is loading. I just cannot get the display to load.  I have hooked to desktop monitor and got no results. The laptop will not wake the mx70 monitor. It has invidia graphics card loaded  with original config.  Any Help?  Thanks .... Steve in Ohio

Go to bios (tapping f10 once power on) if you encounter  same prob, computer needs to be sent for repair.

Thank you for responding.  The computer is working as of this time. Due to some vigilant reading, i have found that numerous people are having the same problem that i am. If i am correct, the problem is a poor connection of the solder joints of the video card to the board.  I wrapped mine in a blanket to "heat" up the solder, and sure enough it worked, however it is not a lasting fix, as my wife was in the middle of an online test for school, and the screen went out!!

Hp has not owned up to this.  Any ideas who to contact there? Thanks, Steve

Sorry about that, update the graphics driver and bios, if your getting the same problem try to go to bios screen quickly and if in bios screen is flickering, you really need to send computer for repair, if its in warranty and there is no physical damage HP will should repair it

Reflow with a heatgun might work better than the blanket method. Read the post here
