DV4-2045dx screen issue possibly?Please help

[ Edited ]

I'm not sure if this is normal or not (Since I do happen to have allot of electronics in my room/living area),but every once in a while the screen will flicker a blackish line straight across the screen...Anyone know what might be going on?Nothing else with my laptop besides that (well, and Halo 2 won't load for some stupid reason, eventhough it has played on the last Windows 7 Laptop I used, and the Touch sensitive buttons),but thats a different story lol

I see the same thing. I haven't been able to nail down what does it.  It happens pretty frequently.  It doesn't seem to depend on the program. It does it while using MS Access, Notepad, and others.  Its a thin, horizontal black line that spans the entire screen very quickly.  What is the cause of this?

I have the same problem. Clearly no one knows what to do. I've contacted HP support via chat and worked through several things. We updated my drivers, reinstalled BIOS, and eventually did a system restore. It was a massive pain and ended up with a fight to reinstall my Office Suite. If they suggest doing a system restore, be extra careful to back it up, or just refuse to do it. It doesn't work.

Re: DV4-2045dx screen issue possibly? Please help

Update on my issue. I finally got HP to believe me that it was an issue and they picked my laptop up for repairs. The LED screen and cables were all replaced, and a full system restore. I lost my office suite because it didn't back up. The issue seemed resolved. But in the last day or two the black bars have returned. Again, there is no single cause. All programs are as likely to spur it. The bars last for maybe a second, no longer. They are probably 1/8 in thick, and not always solid. I've had some that seem fuzzy or pix-elated. I only know this because over time they become more and more frequent.

I just got on a chat support, and explained what was going on. They again offered to pick up my laptop. This was after I explained that I'd done everything already.

Question for all of you: has anyone had the problem on an external monitor? I don't use one, and they always ask me. If I hook one up just to test, I can't see the problem. But as you all know, you can't predict or create the problem. It just happens for no discernible cause.

Re: DV6-2045dx screen issue possibly? Please help

I'm using the computer to receive movies from Netflix and then showing them on a large TV connected to the computer with an HDMI cable. The problem is that I cannot maintain full-screen mode. The image delivered by Netflix has a button labeled "full screen mode." Click it and the image fills the computer screen and the TV screenBut it stays that way only for a moment or so and then reverts to the original sizeClick it again and it fills both screens. But in a short time if pops back to the smaller sizeHow do I keep full-screen mode for the whole movie
