DV7 BluRay Playback Problem

I've searched this forum and I have tried all of the solutions suggested, but none of them have worked.  I have a DV7-1273 with a BluRay player that will not play BluRay movies.  I have updated MediaSmart to version 2.0.2.2401 (I've updated through the MediaSmart options as well as through a link that was in another post that went to the Cyberlink site). 

The first time I run the MediaSmart DVD program it immediately crashes.  When I open it up again, it does not crash and says that the "disc is ready for playing."  When I hit the play but the semi-circle icon (the one it displays when it is the MediaSmart player is working) pops up for a second and then goes away.  The video is never played.  I can browse the files of the BluRay movie with the file explorer.  I have tried two movies so far, IronMan and Wanted

Any help would be appreciated, I've spent a fair amount of time trying to fix this with no luck so far.

the latest version of my media smart software from my HDX 18 driver page is 2.1.2425 released 03/2009 also a new version of mediasmart tv released 03/2009

That version looks like it's just for the MVP package not the DVD/BluRay software.  I checked in the configuration settings of the DVD/BluRay program, and no update is listed.

on my HDX 18 driver page the new MVP package is a completely new version, a few days before this package update i ran HP Health Check , health checked updated the cyberlink DVD BD player , also in  settings   in the DVD Player Software a few months ago the settings  menue had an update from cyberlink, when i installed the new HDX MVP package it also installed some cyberlink software and some C++ software , hope this helps. i just checked my player version in settings it says Version 1.0.2221

The MVP package did not update the DVD/BluRay software for me.  I still have the same version 2.0.2.2401 and the problems have not gone away.  Are there any settings or services I need to make sure are set or running in order for this to work?  Does anyone know of anything else to try?  Thanks again.

Does anyone have another solution to try?  The BluRay player is worthless for me at this point.  Should I just file a warranty claim with HP?

I upgraded to the lastest DVD software that was released this month, and the problem persists.  Can anyone offer any help?

Hello pauldfs,

This problem can occur if Comodo firewall is also installed on your system.  Is this relevent in your case?
