Display Problems Quick Fix - but not a solution to hardware defects

This is intended for users who are:- 1) frustrated by display problems that are preventing them from using their computers like flickering

screens. - 2) unable to boot into windows due to blank screens, blue screens and shutdowns. - 3)users who want their computers to function for

the use of less graphic intense programs like internet explorers, media (movies, music, pictures), internet downloading, etc.

This is not intended for those users who are going to be using graphic intense programs that require hardware accceleration like pc

games, etc.

This will disable your GPU (Hardware Acceleration)

1-shutdown the computer
2-powerup and press 'F8' after the bios logo screen to enter the
3-select 'SAFE MODE' and wait until the PC haS entered the safe mode desktop display screen.
4-select 'START', select 'CONTROL PANEL', select 'POWER OPTIONS'
5-tick the dot at 'HIGH PERFORMANCE'
6-get back to the 'CONTROL PANEL' (point 4)
7-select 'SYSTEM', and click on 'ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS' found on the left under 'TASKS'
8-click on the 'SETTINGS' button in the 'PERFORMANCE' section
9-tick the dot at 'ADJUST FOR BEST PERFORMANCE', 'APPLY' the settings and 'OK' and close all windows
10-choose a picture background for your desktop if you have 'WINDOWS DREAMSCENE CONTENT' selected
10-get back to the 'CONTROL PANEL' (point 4)
11-select 'DEVICE MANAGER' and expand the 'DISPLAY ADAPTER' item
12-the graphics card hardware is now visible
13-right click on the display hardware and select 'UNINSTALL' (make sure you have the installation drivers for your graphics card before

doing this)
14-tick the 'DELETE THE DRIVER SOFTWARE FOR THIS DEVICE' box and click 'OK'
15-restart you PC

system boots into the operating system.

16-follow point # 10, 11 & 12 and the display adapter should be 'STANDARD VGA GRAPHICS ADAPTER'

I hope this fix helps.
If it did not work for you then I apologise for wasting your time. (just 'RUN' your display driver installation package again to

reinstall your original graphic card drivers and 'RESTART' your PC)

[ Edited ]

Correction above in point number 2 & 10:-  2-powerup and press 'F8' after the bios logo screen to enter the 'ADVANCED BOOT OPTIONS' screen.

Two point number 10's mean - You don't have to select a picture background if you had DREAMSCENE enabled. It will be disabled on restart.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If this fix worked for you then you can play around with your display settings by personalizing the appearance of windows, 1) Increasing the resolution as you require; 2) Adjusting the appearance of windows as in point number 9 as you require 3) choosing a better 'THEME' etc.

I also recommend choosing the 'BLANK' screen saver as the other screen savers will only stress your CPU.

Just remember that the CPU is doing all the graphics display work so don't overdo it unless you have a powerful CPU and loads of Memory.

(I have a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU with 4 GB DDR 2 memory(RAM) and I have all my setting on maximum without getting any slowdowns)

Try investing in a cooling pad for your laptop or keep your display settings minimal to keep your CPU cool. (Recommended)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the users who are not happy having their GPU's disabled and wish to play PC games and run graphic demanding programs.

Here is a hardware fix that will cost you money.

1-Apply my quick fix to disable your defective notebook GPU.

2-purchase the latest EXTERNAL GRAPHICS CARD and set it up. Here are a few examples :-

http://ts.fujitsu.com/home/products/notebooks/amilo_graphic_booster.html

(Some models connect directly to your USB port and have HD outputs)

2-purchase a display monitor and connect (I recommend a Full High Definition LCD with high refresh rates)

3-keep harrassing HP and Nvidia about their defective products.
